FaithOnline is committed to building a community space that welcomes every believer, including those who use assistive technology. We want the people God brings to this platform to be able to read, engage, worship, and connect without unnecessary barriers.
This statement says what standard we are working toward, what is true of the Platform today, what we know does not work yet, and how to reach us when something does not work for you.
The Standard We Are Working Toward
FaithOnline is working to substantially conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice adopted for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is the common benchmark for digital products in the United States.
"Working to substantially conform" is a commitment, not a claim of conformance. It means we hold ourselves to that standard and are working toward it. It does not mean the Platform meets it today. Where this statement describes something as done, it is done. Everything else is written as something we are doing or intend to do, and the section below says what we know is not there yet.
Where We Actually Are Today
FaithOnline is a small pre-launch team, and we would rather tell you our real position than describe an accessibility program we do not have.
- No accessibility audit has been performed on the Platform. Not an automated scan, not manual testing with a screen reader, and not an external audit.
- No screen reader has been tested against the Platform.
- We have not collected accessibility conformance documentation from the third-party services the Platform depends on.
- We designed the color palette, typography, and visual hierarchy with contrast and readability in mind. We have not measured them against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios.
- The mobile app is the primary surface and is under active development.
What We Know Does Not Work Yet
We would rather be straight with you about the current state than overstate it. These are the barriers we know about today.
- Screen readers are unverified. We build with VoiceOver and TalkBack in mind, and we have not confirmed that either one works well across the Platform. We have not tested desktop screen readers at all.
- Keyboard navigation is unverified. Some parts of the web experience may not be fully reachable or operable with a keyboard alone.
- Most images have no text alternative. The posting flow does not currently ask community members to describe their images, and we do not add descriptions on their behalf.
- Audio and video content is generally not captioned or transcribed. Media uploaded or linked by community members carries whatever captioning the original has, which is often none.
- Motion and animation may not respect your device's reduce-motion setting.
- Third-party components behave in their own way. The community feed and chat, maps and directory search, sign-in with Apple or Google, and embedded music and video players are built by other companies. Their accessibility is theirs, and we have not yet reviewed it.
- This list is not complete. Because nothing has been formally tested, there are almost certainly barriers on the Platform that are not named here. We will add them as we find them, and we would rather hear about one from you than not know.
Our Position on the Religious-Entity Exemption
Some religious organizations are exempt from Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act under 42 U.S.C. § 12187. FaithOnline does not rely on that exemption as a reason to make the Platform less accessible, and we will not raise it as a reason not to fix a barrier you report to us. We would rather build something every believer can use.

We will review accessibility inquiries and work in good faith to address concerns and provide alternative means of accessing affected content or features where possible.
